Frequently Asked Questions
Can SIL Supports be Provided in my Own Home
Depending on your level of funding, you may be able to receive SIL Supports in your own home.
What is the Difference Between SIL Ratios (1:1, 1:2 & 1:3)?
SIL RAtio's are based on the assessment of your spport need. For example, if you live mostly independently, like to cook your own meals and only need occasional assistance through the day/night, then you may be funded for 1:3, which means you are funded to share with two other people (3 in total, so you are 1 out of 3 participants). However, if you have a higher level of support needs, need more assistance with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and personal care, you may be funded 1:1.
What is the Difference Between ILO and SIL?
In a very basic summary, the main difference between these supports is that ILO is usually only for a set amount of hours per day whereas SIL supports are upto and including 24/7 supports. Both support packages are tailored around your specific needs but SIL has an overnight component, where a Support Worker would either sleep (sleepover) or stay awake to support you during the night.
